Mattress thickness...On the inside of the siderail there is a ledge which supports slats upon which the mattress will lie. From the top of the ledge to the top edge of the siderail in the middle is 8 3/4". The slats are 3/4" thick. This means that a mattress measuring 8" thick will be even with the middle section of the siderail. Usually it looks nicest if the mattress is at least an inch over the top of the siderail.
