And a wonderful recipe from a wafer iron collection! |
Grandma Minnie's Christmas Cookie recipe, brought from Punderick, Germany in 1913...
and makes about 225 to 250 of the 3" square wafer cookies.........make sure that the iron is well "seasoned" before use.........and not rusty or filled with old burnt batter............
1 lb butter
4 cups sugar
8 eggs
8 cups flour
5 to 7 teaspons cinnamon
melt the butter, add sugar, eggs, and cinnamon, then add the flour until batter gets thick, roll into 1" balls, heat the iron before use, place two balls on the wafer iron and cook over gas stove burner, about 1 munute on each side. NEVER WASH COOKIE / WAFER IRON, wipe with cloth or paper towel........Happy Holidays...........I have a Kitchen Aid mixer that works great.
