Hanging an antique sconce....the best way is to sheet rock over the box then make a small hole for the wires. You could also get a wooden decorative back at the craft store, paint it to match your walls, put a small hole through to bring the wires out and hang the sconce from this plate. |

Chain....we don't often have any spare old chain but recommend that you buy the equivalent from De Sherbinen's who have a good selection. They have antiques brass chain in various gauges for a few dollars a foot. Lowe's also sometimes has some nice antique brass chain. A customer just told me that one way to darken chain is to wet in salt water then fume with ammonia, another way is to use brass darkener which is usually a diluted muriatic acid. |
