$5500 Item # Clock 0528-1 French Morbier Clock

Height 83 1/2"
Width at base 18"
Depth at base 10 1/2"

This clock is c 1820-50 according to the Clock Doctor. It is called a Comptoise in Europe and a Morbier her in the US. According to Alan Grace, The Clock Doctor, it has a unique construction. It strikes the right time on the hour and repeats the hour strike 2-3 minutes later (I joked that it was the first 'snooze alarm') and one strike on the half hour.

Original paint, French origin, with pretty enameled clock face and brass covered pendulum weights. You can see the works move through the little glass windows on the head sides and will be able to see the pendulum swing on the stomach of the clock. A festive sight!
