Height 52 1/2"

Width 428"

Height to flap when it is down is 31 3/4"

Flap is 36" wide and 19" deep

Swedish secretary desk from c.1870 with dovetailed drawers and brass pulls. Sturdy desk flap surface, perfect for a laptop. Odd to think that so many years have gone by and this desk is still useful in the electronic age.

All dovetailed, drawers slide smoothly. Very solid and sturdy -- as well as extremely handsome! Lovely bracket leg base, again all dovetailed.

Partially restored at this time, excellent condition.

Price includes your choice of waxed or paint finish, a tassel for the key, delivery in our delivery district or a $200 discount to be used towards trucking.

$2200 Item #Secretary 08269-15 Secret storage space

Height 57"

Depth 17 1/2"

Width 39"

Drop leaf height 31" to desk surface

Swedish secretary c.1870 with bonnet top with a hidden storage area behind for your valuables.

Dovetailed bracket feet, pegged body, dovetailed drawers that will slide smoothly.

Someone put on those bracket pulls. I don't like them, if you like them we will keep them, but if you don't I would like to recommend other hardware. Originally there would only have been key escutcheons and the drawers would have opened by pulling on the key.

The desk flap is big and sturdy.

The interior has many tiny drawers, all dovetailed with good pulls. Someone (the same Someone I presume) painted the drawer supports lilac, again if this is something you like fine by me otherwise I plan to paint them black or another color to match the finish you choose.

Price includes your choice of waxed or paint finish, a tassel for the key, delivery in our delivery district or a $200 discount to be used towards trucking.

Danish secretary in original brown grain paint. The pullout on the top drawer is meant to give a shelf for arranging jewelry and small items, likely this was a man's dressing piece.

The hardware fits the time period of c.1870 but is not matching. We can't decide if they used two kinds of hardware -unlikely or if over time some of the bail handles broke and the owner found similar hardware.

There is a repair to the pull out which we will paint to match.Otherwise this dresser in great shape.

$5500 Item #Painted 0822-1

Total Height 81 1/2"

Depth at base 18 1/2"

Width at base 44 1/2"

Height of base 42 1/2"

Fabulous Norwegian secretary which has been repainted at some point perhaps in the 1940's? All dovetailed. Hardware is also a replacement but stylistically appropriate. c.1880. Comes in two pieces to be moved.

1. Remove screws on left hand side and pull flap to you after losening the iron support with the end of a little screwdriver.

You pull only on the left hand side at first then the right hand side will come free.

2. Remove flap from secretary

3. In this photo you can see the iron on the left still sitting in the secretary. You can leave it there if you like.

At this point...

Glue back lip on secretary if broken with Gorilla Glue. This glue will foam up but when it is dry, it is easy to remove the excess. It will take several hours to dry.

3. Loosen the screws on right hand side and put one or two washers under the point as shown. You are trying to make the flap WIDER so that it can't fall out again.

4. Tighten back the screws and it will look like the photo at left.
5. To reinsert the flap, first insert iron on right hand side of flap in the hole in the secretary. Hold the flap on an angle just the reverse of how you took it out, in other words the left side will be farther out.

You will know that it is in the right position by raising the flap to see if it fits properly.

6. Then set the iron into the flap on the left hand side and slide flap back so it lines up with screw holes.

7. Try to fit a washer behind left hand point on iron before the flap is all the way in on the left hand side.

8. Tighten screws back up.

10. Test for 50 pounds of pressure.

!

11. if flap falls down, repeat with more washers!
