We have bought these terrific rugs c.1900-40 in Sweden for many years and sold
them in our antiques shop. They were made of many interesting fabrics and
perhaps you will see patterns that you recognize from your childhood. Rugs
were made for home use and made to last. They wash very well in the washing
machine on a cold knit cycle with liquid laundry detergent or better yet,
Simple Green which can be bought at hardware stores. Then just lay it flat
to dry, but we find they do not need to be washed often, mostly just shook
out.
All or our rag rugs are washed and dried before being photographed.

All of these rugs are Swedish and from between 1900-40, made mostly of long staple cotton fabrics that are often much older!
