$2600 Item # Plank Table 11215-57 A bewinged oval! This was a hardworking kitchen table. You can see at the one end where the meat grinder was attached... Made of two 14" planks... The interesting curved panel...well originally we can see that this table was rectangular! Then someone must have yearned for an oval table but had a very tall person in the house...thus the compromise wing for very long knees. Originally there was also a wing on the opposite side of the table. We can remove the wing or leave it as is. It is pegged into the main table. On the opposite side you can see where the other one was pegged. Each piece on the base had a beveled edge - lots of work and love put into this sturdy table. Very comfortable to sit at even on the short ends because of the huge overhang. |

It is Danish from a factory in Jutland. Once in a while we see these and pick them up because they are so unique. The pedestal actually comes apart to make room in the top for the leaves. It is very well made and sturdy, however hard to find. They were very expensive tables and very few were made. This table is in great condition. This table can be rewaxed. Since there is no apron, lots of space to cross your legs under the table top. Price includes rewaxing. |

Seating depends on the width of your chairs. If your chairs are no more than 18 " in width, then you can comfortably seat 6 people around the closed table. With both 16" leaves inserted, you can set 3 people on each long side and one on each short side. Seats 6 when closed (with narrow chairs) and 8 with both leaves inserted. Each table leave will about 16" and will extend from each end of the table. Depth 35 1/2" Height to apron 24" Between the legs 24 1/2" and 40 1/2" Original Danish table c.1860 or so, very very handsome. It will have leaves that fit onto the extensions. You can put in one leaf or two as you choose. The space under the leaf will of course be very comfortable if you like to cross your legs or have long legs. The overhang on each side is 1 1/2". I am not sure if we have the original leaves for this table, if not my husband will use matching wood and make leaves. Unrestored but excellent condition. cracks in these legs are typical of the age and turnings and will
be filled in, part of our usual restoration process. The legs are

All pegged with super construction. Very smooth and tightly grained wood. Delicate turned legs. A sturdy table in excellent condition, although not restored as yet. The large photo towards the bottom shows the accurate color as the table is now. If you would like leaves, please ask us. The table top separates to put in the leaves and I think it would add on about another 2 1/2'. My husband, Borge, would give you the price for this. I think the original leaves are missing, but he can make leaves out of old bed siderails that will match the grain of the wood very well. He can also put boots on the legs if you need another inch of height. This table can take a two foot leave for an additional $300. Restored and ready for a finish.
